Matt is currently the Project Manager/Managing Editor for the Higher Education section of Directgov.   This is a six month secondment based at HEFCE.

He works closely with the supplier, HERO Ltd, to develop content and migrate material onto DirectGov from external web-sites, such as Aimhigher.  He is responsible for managing the development of the site information architecture, planning future developments and overseeing site content. As project manager, he is also responsible for managing the relationship with the sponsors – the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), DirectGov and other partners.

Matt works in the Communications & Marketing team at JISC and while his job title seems to be a matter of some discussion his role is mainly focussed on activities that can be broadly grouped as e-Communications.

Current projects include:

  • jiscinvolve.org (this blog platform)
  • wiki.jisc.ac.uk (the new JISC wiki environment)
  • JISC talk (evidenced by the sudden burst of JISC related podcasts)
  • jiscanswers.org (a Yahoo Answers clone for the JISC community)
  • Various projects to improve the user experience of the JISC website which are driven by our recent user survey and subsequent user testing

Alongside the e-Communications work I also take a lead role in planning the JISC Conference and offer support to other Outreach projects on occasion.

I also blog at http://backpass.org
